Question? Let Me know

Ronnie Hausheer, The Dancing Turtle

I find life to be an adventure with lots of possibilities and also with lots of twists and turns and bumps along the road.  After retiring from an executive position in state government, I decided that I wanted to learn to dance Argentine tango well, so I moved to Buenos Aires where I am now dancing, coaching, teaching English to executives, offering workshops in nonviolent communication, and studying jewelry-making.  Had someone asked me ten years ago what I would be doing in 2014, I wouldn't have had any idea how to answer.

So, why the Dancing Turtle?  As a child, I was shy.  It was common for people to ask when I was going to come out of my shell.  I stayed in my shell well into adulthood, and still have moments of ease there.  But somewhere along the way, I uncovered my need for connection, discovered a longing to understand the people in my world, and I started taking baby steps toward people and away from the isolation that was so safe for me.  I loved movement, but I was clumsy and self-conscious.  When I came in contact with the Argentine tango (I was around 50 at the time), the music resonated with me, but my balance was shaky and the learning process long.  I actually had teachers that refused to teach me.

My journey amazes me.  "How did I get here? " I ask myself.  And the answer is clear: one step at a time.  I knew what I wanted and I consistently moved toward it, and I got some help along the way.  A person who was hard around the edges, I grew softer over time, learned acceptance, empathy and compassion.  Communication has been a theme throughout my adult life.  It's also been a challenge for a fearful and introverted person.  But the attraction was so strong...  I kept moving toward people.  I studied Neurolinguistic Programming, Focusing, Nonviolent Communication, Ericksonian Hypnosis and, finally Transformational Coaching.  Each one has helped to shape who I am today.  Although I am officially retired, Coaching is so much fun, and incorporates so much learning for me, that I cannot not do it.  It's too rich a source of satisfaction.

I hold a Masters degree in language and an MBA.  I am a Certified Professional Coach.  I am an enthusiastic grandma and a non-stop knitter.  I am grateful to all the people who have touched and continue to touch my life.
